Ingrid de Zwarte awarded two grants

Ingrid de Zwarte (ASH PhD candidate) has been awarded a Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds Grant (made possible by Banning de Jong Fonds) and a Jo Kolk Grant in support of a visiting scholar position at Columbia University, New York City in the fall of 2016.

As part of her PhD project ‘The Hunger Winter Reassessed’, De Zwarte will examine death and survival during the Dutch Hunger Winter of 1944/1945 at Columbia’s Epidemiology Department. She will also conduct archival research in Washington D.C. into Allied relief efforts for the occupied Netherlands.
