Tessa Jaspers' PhD project is part of the FGW Starting Grant project "Urban Landscapes in Late Antiquity" led by dr. Konstantin Klein, and is supervised by Prof. dr. Daniëlle Slootjes, dr. Konstantin Klein and dr. Martijn Icks. It investigates the evolution of urban landscapes in late antiquity, focusing on selected cities in the Eastern Roman Empire in the third to seventh centuries CE. Tessa studies both the physical transformations in the landscapes of these cities, as well as the accompanying transformations in their urban identity and in the collective memory and identity of their inhabitants.
