Peter van Dam (senior lecturer in Dutch history), Gerrit Schaafsma (PhD candidate in Philosophy), and colleagues from the Faculty of Social Sciences (Paul Raekstad and Valerie Schreur), have received a seed grant for their project 'Changing businesses for good'.

Changing Businesses for Good: Activist Interventions in the Age of Environmental Catastrophe investigates the specific ideas and practices which social movements use to achieve a transition to a more sustainable economic system. It is primarily embedded in the research group Environment & Society: Contestation and Governance based at the Amsterdam School of Historical Studies and led by Peter van Dam.

The seed grant was awarded by the Faculty of Social Sciences in the context of the UvA-wide (societal) research theme 'Fair and Resilient Societies', one of the four central societal themes formulated in the UvA strategic plan for 2021-2026.
